Tiết đầu tiên này cô giới thiệu chương và ôn lại thì quá khứ đơn
THE PAST SIMPLE TENSE ( Thì Quá khứ Đơn)
I. Usages ( Cách dùng)
- Thì quá khứ đơn được dùng để diễn tả một hành động xảy ra trong quá khứ đã hoàn tất và xác định rõ thời gian.
Ex: He visited Hue in 2010.
- Diễn tả một hồi ức, kỷ niệm
Ex: When I was small, I used to go fishing in the afternoon
II. Formation ( Cách thành lập)
1. V( TOBE): thì , là ,ở
I/ He/ She/ It/ Singular Noun (danh từ số ít) + was + ........
You/ We/They/ Plural Noun (danh từ số nhiều) + were + ........
Ex: I was in grade 7 last year.
It was very hot yesterday.
They were in the living room last night
Ex : (-) It was not hot yesterday.
(?) Was it hot yesterday ?
* Yes, It was/ No, It wasn’t
(?) What was the weather like two days ago?
* It was very cold
Notes: was not = wasn’t
were not = weren’t
2. V( Ordinary): Động từ thường
a. The affirmative form (Thể khẳng định)

S + V-ed/ V(cột 2) + …. |
Ex: My family went to Dalat five years ago .
He watched that film last Sunday.
* Notes: Động từ có quy tắc thêm ED ta cần lưu ý:
- Tận cùng là E ta chỉ việc thêm D
Ex: live -> lived; arrive -> arrived
- Tận cùng là Y mà trước nó là 1 nguyên âm (a, e, i, o, u) thì ta chỉ việc thêm ED
Ex: play-> played; stay -> stayed
- Tận cùng là Y mà trước nó là phụ âm ta đổi Y thành I rồi mới thêm ED
Ex: study -> studied; try -> tried
b.The negative form ( Thể phủ định)

S + did +not + V(B.I) + …. |
Ex: My family did not go to Dalat five years ago .
He didn’t watch that film last Sunday.
c. The interrogative form ( Thể nghi vấn)
|
Did + S + V(B.I) + ….? |
Yes, S + did / No, S + didn’t
Ex: Did your family go to Dalat five years ago ?- Yes, I did.
Did he watch that film? - No, he didn’t.

Ex: What time did you go to bed last night?
- I went to bed at 9 p.m.
EXERCISE
Give the correct form of verbs in the past simple tense
1. Mary (go) shopping with me yesterday.
2. The policeman (drive) away ten minutes ago.
3. You (spend) a lot of money last month?
4. He (not play) ...... foofball last yesterday.
5. I (not have) any trouble with my car last week.
